The Dorset Council (Lenthay Road, Sherborne) (School Street) (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) (Experimental Order) 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Council of Dorset has made the above-mentioned Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.

When the Experimental Order comes into operation on the 2 February 2026 the effect will be to prohibit the driving of motor vehicles on a section of Lenthay Road, Sherborne during the hours of 2:45pm until 3:30pm on every school day.

The reasons for proceeding by way of experimental order is to assess the effects of the changes before Dorset Council considers whether the provisions of the Experimental Traffic Regulation Order shall continue in force indefinitely. Relevant exemptions will apply where appropriate and as necessary in accordance with the provisions of the Order.

When the Order comes into operation on 9th April 2026 the effect of the Order will be to introduce a 30mph speed limit along a section of the C27 (Church Knowle and Tyneham Road), Church Knowle from a point approximately 65 metres east of the main entrance to St Peter’s Church, in a westerly direction for approximately 542 metres.
