Pride in Place is a government programme designed to give communities the tools and resources they need to shape their neighbourhoods and drive local change. Because residents understand their area best, local people will lead the programme, deciding how Pride in Place funding is used and what priorities should be taken forward.

Over the next 10 years, the programme will provide up to £2 million each year to Littlemoor and Broadwey. A new Neighbourhood Board will create a regeneration plan for the area and make funding decisions that support long-term, positive change across Littlemoor and Broadwey. The board will be led by an Independent Chair.

Most Neighbourhood Board members will be local people. They will be supported by local MP Lloyd Hatton and representatives from Dorset Council.

The independent chair will be appointed first.

The role is suitable for someone who:

  • cares about the local area
  • wants to support positive change
  • can guide discussions in a fair, open and balanced way

We are seeking someone who listens well, brings people together, and helps ensure board decisions reflect the needs of the whole community. The role is not open to elected representatives, such as councillors or MPs.

The chair will be selected in early May by a panel including Lloyd Hatton MP and the senior responsible officer for Dorset Council Sam Crowe.

Appointment of Neighbourhood Board members will follow in June, after the appointment of the chair.

You can apply to be a board member, an independent chair, or both. We particularly welcome applications from people who live in Littlemoor or Broadwey and are excited by the opportunity for meaningful change.
